My name is Annemarie Schumacher, I’m from Amsterdam and earned my degrees in Graphic Design and Arts Education there.
Since 2015 I’ve been working as an independent creative in Berlin. In my portfolio you’ll find illustration, graphic design and lettering work I’ve created for clients, as well as self-initiated work which became a collection of art prints. From 2017 until 2020 I was also a board member for the Berlin Kreativ Kollektiv, a non-profit organisation founded to improve the position of small creative businesses in Berlin. In that capacity I helped organise two conferences and ran a research project on the Berlin Maker community, among other fun things.
Until recently my main focus was teaching workshops on drawing and lettering, but during the pandemic I decided to pivot to UI and web design. I’m very much enjoying the fresh challenge this field brings me. Currently I am building my portfolio of custom websites using WordPress and DiVi.
Take a look at to draw is to see, which is my online resource for anyone who feels the creative itch but needs a bit of help acting on it.
Check out my side project Ode to Fangirls, where I write and draw about the intersection of feminism and fandom.
